No one likes the fact that the babies are created this way because it is not moral. We think that children should be made through the way God intended it to be. The brain washing of the kids and the horrible ways they treat each other is just wrong.
Tuesday's Discussion -We discussed the character's use of soma and how much it seems that they take the drug. They use this to keep calm and to relax. We all agreed that this connects to the society today because of all the types of medications that is given to everyone. There seems to be all different types of medicines that can calm us down and that there is no actual need to cope with feelings. In the book when the characters start to get worried, anxious, or sad they take soma to keep them happy. This drug sets them apart from these feelings and they never actually have to face their problems.
Thursday's Discussion -It is very ironic how John always seems to quote Shakespeare and seems to live by the writing. It is ironic because Shakespeare speaks of how beautiful the world is and how the World State seems to conflict that. John is considered a "savage" yet he seems to have real thoughts and emotions unlike everyone else. In the World State society the people view people who think differently as outsiders or savages. Today's society is the same way; if we do not agree with people then their views must be wrong, they must be different.
